A company's CO2 emissions measure the total greenhouse gas emissions caused directly or indirectly by its activities. This includes emissions from energy consumption, transportation, production, but also business travel and the entire supply chain. A low carbon footprint is crucial to combating climate change and promoting sustainable business models.
are therefore trying to significantly reduce our footprint and keep it as low as possible through energy efficiency, the use of renewable energies and environmentally friendly logistics strategies. In recent years, we have implemented many small but also some larger projects to make this possible step by step. A small practical example of this would be the use of warm air from our compressors and ventilation systems. With the help of modern recovery options, we utilize this heat and use it for our heating system. One of many steps in the right direction...
Our in-house photovoltaic systems convert sunlight directly into electrical energy without generating greenhouse gases and thus produce clean electricity. This enables us to generate over 130 MWh and use it directly for our production. For us at GLW, this is an important part of our sustainability strategy and a future-proof solution for of energy generation, which strengthens our ecological profile as well as our economic stability.
In today's world, reducing CO2 emissions is not only a question of ecological responsibility, but also a decisive factor for the future of our economy and society. Modern machines play a central role in this endeavor and offer numerous opportunities to reduce emissions and increase efficiency at the same time.
For example, we have already replaced a large proportion of our injection molding machines with fully electric machines in order to help reduce CO2 emissions. Another step towards creating a more sustainable future together.
Almost all of our GLW company vehicles are electric cars and are powered by our own green electricity, which further reduces their ecological footprint. Cycling is an even more environmentally friendly alternative, as it causes no emissions and also offers health benefits. That's why we proactively promote this point with a co-financed job bike and take part in regional events such as city cycling. The combination of both means of transportation can represent a sustainable mobility strategy. We at GLW would therefore like to continue to promote both modes of transportation and take a further step towards climate protection in order to improve the quality of life in urban areas.
